Out with the old, in with the new

It's my birthday! Yeah! And I'm now super seventeen.Ü

I've been waiting for this. Haha. Being a year older gives me a sense of renewal, a go sign in changing myself for the better. I've wasted my sixteenth year; I've done practically nothing at that age, which is kind of upsetting as people have dubbed the age "sweet sixteen" Nothing about my being sixteen was sweet. It was total bullsh*t (sigh, got to stop with the profanity). -_- I mean, hello?

My sixteen was:

1. In terms of love life? Absolute bull. If I was not rejected, then I was loveless. But hey, sixteen is too young an age to experience love, right? (So old fashioned, Kring. So old fashioned.)
2. Focused primarily on my studies - I know it sucks, but everything I did was for the sake of my grades (and up to now it still is). Why? Because I need to transfer to another school (just how many times have I said that?).
3. Practically boring - No partying (heck I'm not even into partying in the first place), no drinking, no night life, no nothing. As I said - studies.
4. Wasted - I have not joined any extracurricular activities, no clubs, orgs... yeah, totally boring. But what can I say? I'm concentrating on my studies XD

Compare my sweet sixteen to a year of working in an office. That's how it went.

But my sixteen wasn't so bad, really, because I've gotten some good experiences:

1. Being at the top for the first time - from being at the back of the pack in my high school, I have experienced, at long last, being top 1 in my block at my first semester in college. Hell yeah. We were like, 35+ in the block, so being at the very top felt so good.
2. Having a perfectly perfect grade in math - Yes, a whopping 5.0 (5.0 is equivalent to 100 points) in my report card. Can you imagine? In my senior year in high school I flunked math for three quarters! (Mind you, by flunk I mean having a grade of 74 and below) And all of a sudden I get a perfect 100! How cool is that? XD
3. Make my family proud - My family (relatives included) values education and sometimes judge how good we kids are based on our academics (hurts, right?). So having made my high school a mess, it's torture to have relatives teasing you about being dumb. But! I have redeemed myself! In their face! XD
4. Growing more mature - Yup, I can definitely say I've grown wiser. There were times when I just caught myself thinking of how the world ticks and what the fundamental laws of life are. Of how people really are in nature, and of how basic things can be so important.
5. Being more independent - I've learned how to commute and save money! And I've learned to clean my own mess and to take one step at a time.

Well, now that I've grown a year older, I want to improve myself and want to bring myself closer to my ultimate goal: self-actualization. I'll join orgs now (Mensa?), and learn things I never have before (he-low, cooking :P). And honestly, I can't wait!

***Thanks to everyone who greeted me a happy birthday. You know who you guys are.Ü
